Organization in Fashion? ABSOLUTELY!!!

One of my dreams from the time I was 13 was to have the amazing virtual rotating closet on the 1995 classic ‘Clueless’.  I mean seriously, Cher could walk over to her touch screen and see which outfit looked good with what and then the closet (nicely organized I might add) would scroll and find it for her.

I wish!  First of all, I have to work with the small closet I have.  I utilize many plastic bins to put away my seasonal clothes.  So what I do is one of the things I do best-besides shopping-and that’s organizing!
If you ask any of my staff at my work, they would tell you that I drive them slightly crazy with my organization, but it helps me find things when I need them.
I categorize how clothes are in my closet.  I group dresses together, skirts, pants, jeans, tees, tanks, cardi’s and the list goes on.  When my A game is on and when I have more time (not lately) I also color code my clothes (yes maybe a little extreme).  One other thing I do is group all my new clothes with tags still on them, no matter what it is.  That way I know what hasn’t been worn yet because I have lost clothes in the mix with tags on that I later pull out and say-oh ya, I forgot about this!
My closet:) Its not Cher's but I work with what I got!

With all the rage that Pinterest brings now it is easier then ever to put all my “fashion likes” in one spot.  But I am still a big magazine reader and pull many of outfit ideas and lots of other things like makeup tips, money saving lessons and recipes.  Those things that I really like, instead of keeping the entire magazine and creating a lack of space, I tear out the pages I like, put them in a page protector and start a binder.  I have a couple of binders full of outfit ideas, household ideas, beauty tips and recipes.  I love them and they are a way for me to keep my fav’s out of the magazines without keeping the whole magazine!

Take the time to organize your wardrobe.  We all live busy lives, especially being a mom, and there isn’t much time to sort through all your clothes.  I do the same for my girl’s closets and it makes it very easy for me to pick out their outfits everyday.  Now if I could just figure out how to convince my husband to get me a closet like Cher’s !

Change that may uplift your look and your mood:)

I am the type of girl that would change my hair frequently.  I think I have tried almost every color on my hair (except red red) and I have had my hair almost all lengths except a pixie cut.  But a lot of that craziness was in my younger days and over the last few years I have kept my hair long.  It took me forever to get it that long and I like it for the most part.  But lately I have been wandering around aimlessly and unhappy.  I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was but I knew I needed a change, quickly.  So, my new found love for Pinterest helped me find a really cute hairstyle I liked.  So i made an appointment and was planning on going for it.

Of course I got to the salon, and panicked.  But I closed my eyes and said 'just do it'.  And 7 inches and some bangs later here I am.  Wowza, it took a minute to get used to short hair again but now I love it and it feels great!

Sometimes a change may not be needed in buying a whole new wardrobe, it may just be that you need a beauty face lift.  Whether its a new and different haircut or trying a new makeup line.  I just feel better and have gotten lots of new compliments on my new do'.  It was definitely time for a change.

If you are feeling like you are in some sort of rut, maybe its time for a change!  Summer is the perfect time to cut your locks and get a fresh, light style.  Or if you have short hair, maybe its time to check out your local Ulta and get some fun extensions to switch it up a bit.  It might uplift your look and your mood:)

Being creative and saving on birthday celebrations

My sweet little girl Britta turned 1 yesterday.  This makes me smile and cry all at once.  Smile because I am happy to see her grow, and sad because the first year went so fast and I can't believe she is 1 already!!
I am the kind of woman that LOVES birthdays.  I mean, I call my birthday month 'Rocktober' and seriously call it "My birthday month" because I joke that it is celebrated all month long:)  But when it comes to my daughters, I start planning months in advance from when there party will be and what the theme is to what they will wear.  And as it gets closer to the day, all I can think about is the day I gave birth to them.  I think about how unbelievabley amazing each day was for each of my girls to come into this world and how lucky I am that God chose me to be their mom.  Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for them every single day, but that particular day is my 1st encounter with them, memorizing there face and that feeling I had for the first time of instant love with each of my beautiful daughters.  And this is why I find birthdays so special.  It is the day to celebrate when they came into this world.

Ok, enough of the mushly stuff!  I tend to get extra emotional around their birthdays too:)

There is also the fun party and and I admit I love to entertain.  The 1st birthday is always considered a "milestone birthday" so I do tend to be a little more extreme for this event.  So for Britta's birthday it is obvious I am going with the "1st Birthday" Theme.  When Savanah turned 1 and every year since, I have done the Shutterfly invitations.  They are sooo cute, fun to create and reasonable.  But since the introduction of Pinterest, I got an idea to do an invite more creatively AND more importantly, $30 cheaper:)

Here are the invites I created with a little inspiration from a Pinterest post and the help of my friend Katie.
